The head line which reads “ Lennon at 70” is underneath the masthead in a red font which matches the masthead. Underneath the head line is three lines in a gold font which has emphasis on the words ‘whole, last and unseen’. These words attract the reader as they are encouraging the reader they wouldn’t have seen or read any of the pictures or articles of John Lennon before. These words excite the reader to want to read as they believe they will find out everything about the man which will interest men who aspire or idealise John Lennons lifestyle and his music. Also as John Lennon isn’t alive these words promote that they will inform them about him which they wont be able to hear from John himself but this is the closest thing to him. The masthead of a Q is in the left hand corner which is the same with all over Q magazines, this makes the magazine easily recognisable. The masthead of Q is always in a big font which suggests the magazine has to make up for the magazine only being one letter and not a word. The Q is in a white font with a red square around it. Red has been used as of its strong connotations behind the colour. Red is known for being symbolic for love and passion but also violence and pain. Some people also see red as evil and the colour of the devil.
Q may have used the colour red as it can convey so many messages behind it.
