For my preminary task,I designed a magazine so i would learn the typical conventions needed for a magazine such as a masthead, headlines, coverlines, barcode ect. I also was given the oppurtunity to be able to use the programme photoshop in which i learnt how to use certain tools to edit the fonts and image.
From comparing my preliminary task to my finished product is it clear that i have improved as of my range of images which i all edited on photoshop, the variations of different styled fonts and my typical colour scheme associated with my magazine genre. This improved dude to when doing my preliminary task i simply did not understand how to use the software properly such as photoshop. I show very little knowledge of the tyical convetions included in a magazine as this cover looks very simple and plain. There is plenty of empty space where as on my completed product my cover is filled with headlines, and lists of things which are going to be included in the magazine, along with names of upcoming artists and festivals. The preliminary cover is not eye cathcing which a school magazine need sto be as its targeted at yuong children and teens which should be more cluttered, with brighter colours in order for it look more attractive. It also dosent look profesional which suggests it wont be boguht or read by consumers. It also dosent include the price which is a nessesity for a school magazine due to it been targeted at students.
For my final cover i have used teasers and used the same colour scheme for the text, and image in order to create a professional and attractive cover. From comparing both my preliminary to my final product, i have gained a good understanding of what makes a successful magazine cover and all the typical conventions i need to include to achiveve this.
